Let’s go Karaoke with Shrek!

Fun is one of the major reasons why people love to sing at karaoke. And in Dream Work’s animated movie “Shrek”, this is highlighted as they had a karaoke dance party at the swamp. Watch the video clip to experience the fun! I’m sure you and your kids will love this!

The Party starts by Shrek’s welcome greeting and then turned on their own wireless karaoke machine. The video is an inclusive extra in its 2-Disk Special edition DVD or the VHS version. It was released on December 2, 2001. This is a celebration party after Shrek’s and Fiona’s wedding.  When the two have sung, their friends started to sing also. And the fun continues as they end with song “Dance to the music…” Common and jive to the beat! Haha

Pinoy Out Loud – Dual Voice

Why is it that, wherever you are in the Philippines, you will almost always eventually come across a “videoke” of some kind: wireless karaoke machines, coin slot videoke units, and sometimes, even people following minus 1 track with lyrics over YouTube?

Because the Philippines is one of the most musically inclined countries in the world, not to mention, some of the best vocal skill are from here. One such skill is the ability to sing in dual voices. And we’re not just talking about being able to impersonate voice but actual, real simulation of both genders being able to sing.

It has been a long standing trend what with talented comedians singing female and male songs onstage; even prior to that, Doble Kara (two face) was a popular form of mass entertainment where people dress half male on one side of their body and female on the other and switch visible sides to the audience as well as voice on when on song ques.

The talent of singing with two voices sort of died down in a hype but was brought back into the spotlight with the rising of one Marcelito Pomoy on Pilipinas Got Talent.

Marcelito Po Moy - Pilipinas Got Talent 2011 by loamejan Other singers also took to Youtube and became celebrities in their own right like Amiel Orio who was featured in Walang Tulugan with Master Showman.

Justin “Koko” Tan, on the other hand, is making a name for himself on social media and YouTube with a wider range of video uploads and a ferocious following.

If you’re still wondering why videoke is such an undying and perennial trend in the Philippines, well, this is one of the reasons why. How about you, what other vocal entertainment mechanisms have you observed Pinoy’s to be good at?

Wireless Karaoke Machine

The Wireless karaoke machine is the latest development in the karaoke systems. The term wireless is associated because of the wireless microphones and control system. These types of karaoke machine use the most advanced technology and have high-quality outputs. The classic set up includes wired microphones, speakers, and monitor to the karaoke system. The distance is limited and is dependent to the length of the wire. But nowadays, karaoke companies are releasing their latest models of wireless karaoke machines. And some even have a completely wireless system from the microphones, video outputs, and even the speakers! I will try to write without being too technical about the features. Besides, most of them are automatically setup.

Wireless Microphone System

This is one of the hottest devices in the market. Not just for karaoke, but for other audio systems that require wireless microphones. The advantage of using this is the ability to sing without having to worry about spaghetti wires, very easy to use and more efficient than the wired one. This includes a receiver and microphones with built-in transmitter. The receiver has the following general features (this varies from one model to another depending on the development and upgrades):

Automatic frequency selection
Automatic transmitter setup
Selectable frequencies (the higher the bandwidth, the better)
Detachable antennas
RF presence LED
Volume Control
XLR and ¼” outputs
5-segment Audiometer
Microprocessor-controlled
Frequency and power lockout
Low battery indicator

The receiver, on the other hand, has the following feature:

470-782 MHz frequency range
Automatic Transmitter
3-segment battery fuel gauge

These were some generic feature, but you can find more sophisticated and high-quality microphones compare to this.

Wireless Speaker System

This awesome type of speaker system gives you the advantage of using your karaoke and having placed your speaker on any part of the house. Imagine if you have a small living room and you want to save space but still wants to hear good music? The wireless speaker system is the best development of speaker systems. You can also use it even outdoors. This also has a receiver and transmitter. The transmitter is connected on your karaoke system while the receiver is placed on the speakers. I saw one of the speaker distributors in YouTube and their wireless speakers really is cool. I will not advertise them though.

Setting up this wireless karaoke machine requires a lot more money compare to setting up the classic type. But the pleasure and satisfaction is guaranteed.
